Professional Interior Painting in Ottawa: Our Signature Prep Process

At NCR Pro-Painting, we believe that a flawless, long-lasting finish is 90% preparation. Many homeowners think painting is just about the final coat, but skipping the prep leads to peeling, uneven textures, and visible stains.

When you hire our team for interior painting in Ottawa, we follow a rigorous, multi-step preparation protocol. With over 16 years of experience in the National Capital Region, we ensure your walls look stunning and the results last for years.

Why Quality Prep Matters for Your Ottawa Home

Proper preparation is an investment in your property’s value. Our meticulous process saves you money by preventing the need for premature repaints and ensures the “wow factor” you expect from the best house painters in Ottawa.

Phase 1: Total Protection of Your Surroundings

We treat your home with the utmost respect. Before we open a single can of paint, our Ottawa interior painters take a “safety first” approach:

  • Hardware Removal: We remove outlet plates, vent covers, and hardware, reinstalling them perfectly once the job is complete.

  • Furniture Shielding: Items are moved to the center of the room and covered with clean plastic sheeting.

  • Floor Protection: All flooring is protected with heavy-duty drop cloths to prevent any drips or spills.

Phase 2: Expert Surface Preparation

Before a brush touches the wall, we create a “perfect canvas.”

  • Drywall & Plaster Repair: We fill holes, scratches, and gouges, ensuring the surface is smooth and sound.

  • Sanding: We smooth out rough patches and previous paint drips to ensure a level surface for the new coat.

  • Cleaning: We remove hidden dust, grease, and grime—essential for paint adhesion in kitchens and bathrooms.

  • Stain Blocking: We apply specialized primers to neutralize water stains, wood knots, or smoke damage so they don’t “bleed” through your new paint.

Phase 3: Precision Coating Application

The difference between a “DIY look” and a professional finish is in the details.

  • Sanding Between Coats: We sand walls between applications to ensure a uniform, buttery-smooth finish.

  • Clean Cut Lines: Our painters are experts at “cutting in,” ensuring perfectly straight lines along ceilings, baseboards, and trim.

  • Rich Coverage: We apply multiple coats to ensure the color is vibrant and the sheen is uniform across the entire room.

Phase 4: Daily Site Cleaning & Final Approval

We prioritize your comfort. The job site is cleaned daily to keep your home livable during the project.

  • Tidy Workspace: We keep the premises free of unnecessary tools and debris.

  • Work Approval: Upon completion, we invite you to a final walkthrough. We don’t consider the job done until you are 100% satisfied.
